Can you leave the shifters uninstalled or do the shifters have to be installed to have the system work correctly?

you can leave the jammers uninstlled but you will keep getting an error message on start up

Yes the 9500Ci will work find with the shifters connected or not connected. Each time the 9500Ci powers up it goes through the start up sequence listing what’s connected and what is not connected. Like a checklist informing you which features are functional.
