Default Redline Received Incredible K band performance

    To all,

I recently order and received an Escort Redline. I was hoping for some good Ka encounters since I received it, no suck luck. I have had several K band encounters. I compared alert distances on the Redline to 2 Beltronics s7 models on the back side of a K band speed sign. I must admit I was absolutely blown away by the distance the Redline alerted to compared to that of an S7 v995 and s7 RX65. The alert distance of the Redline, nearly 3 times that of the Bels. I changed the Redline and the Bels to make sure I was reading the correct frequency for the K band speed sign. After the first run I was a bit skeptical, so I ran the Redline several more times to make it wasn't a false alert. Sure enough the Redline alerts nearly 3 times that of the Bels. I ran the numbers to determine sensitivity difference. The Redline is 9 db more sensitive than the s7 Beltronics on k band. If you are looking for incredible radar sensitivity then the Redline is the answer.

For me I didn't find the Redline to alert excessively. Yes I found a lot of door openers. The Redline has 3 different modes highway, auto and auto-no X. In town I have been using auto-no x mode. Just an amazing detector, the only dislike; you must enter preference mode to change display brightness. It does have an auto brightness setting like the Whistler SE series. I still like the abiliy to set brightness manually.

It will also out perform the Bel STi, but not by quite so much...

thats cause they have the same hardware, just the redline is held to higher testing standards

They also use better software on the Redline than the STi.

9db more sensitive would equate to 3 miles in the real world... That's a pretty bold statement, as my 9500CI has yet to outpace the V1 by anything less than a mile...

Remember this was a comparison between the Beltronics s7 model v995 and RX65 only. According to Michael Bs Sensitivity tests the V1 was several db more sensitive the Bels. If I had access to a V1 and ran the same test in the same location, it would be much closer I'm sure.

I'm sure that Escort may have made a number of internal improvements to the redline to make it much more sensitive than the Bel STI.

This comparison was on K band only, I was very skeptical till I ran the same test against the same k band speed sign several times.

    V995 and RX65 alert distance 950 feet

Redline alert distance 2800 feet pretty consistent on a minimum of 7 runs.

My short experience (4 days) with the Redline is the same as quoted above. It is marginally better on K band, and I cant wait to cross one of those Ka Multanovas to compare the excellent range I get with the STi Driver. I must say though, that I prefer the "multiple signals" display on the Redline to that on the Sti. Its good to see if multiple signals are present in any one band and comparatively what strength they are!

    To all,

To clarify my post above the comparison made was between 2 Beltronics S7 detectors and the Redline. I hope I didn't confuse anyone.
