    Default non-metallic tint

hey guys.. i have my 8500 mounted up above the RVM hard wired. car has a factory "blue dye" tint strip. see sig for car.. i was gonna get a 5% tint strip (NON-METALLIC) put at the top of the windshield to go along with the rest of the 5% tint on the car. I just want to make sure i have done my research on here correctly in the fact that NON-METALLIC tint of any sort no matter how dark doesn't have an effect on radar reception??

Non metallic won't mess up your radar reception.

Correct. It doesn't matter what percent. Radar is not light. It is radar.

It will pass through the tint no problem.

I have 14% non metalic LLumar on my mustang and have done testing
With automatic door openers. No effect on singal strength.

But make sure you get a shop that knows what they're doing. Almost all shops use only metallic tint now. And I'm sure they'll tell you its non metallic. So ask them the specific model numbers they use and check with the manufacturer.

If you can't afford Huper Optik, LLumar is the only way to go. Expect severe visibility reductions at night if you get the whole car done. I got Paced 2 weeks after I got my tint. You have to be very. Very careful

lol it is.. well i got one problem in all this.... went up to the local bi-lo and did a test to see if the stock blue tint strip affected reception, and well to my dismay it did somewhat. i held the detector behind tint strip and had a reading of 3 bar strength. i moved it slowly down just under the strip and it went to 5 bars/ full strength. so it seems that it has some metallic property in it unfortunately..

Won't harm Radar, may reduce your Laser detection but that's a ticket notifier anyway.

I think it is a common misconception that tint in general might interfere with Radar or GPRS but the truth is, tints won't. To learn more about car or window tints go to www(.)TintBuyer(.)com. They give free relevant information about tints such as its types, benefits, quotations, laws involved in every state and will help in locating the best window tinters near your area. I hope this helps, thanks

I have a 94Z and my V1 is mounted right below the tint strip. No problems at all.
