    Default X50 Froze

I was driving around the other day and wass shot by laser on 93 luckily my blinder went off and saved my a$$ but my X50 was silent....I've never had it go silent when I wass hit by laser. I have it on the mode where there is a small H on the left hand side and a dot scans across the screen. When I Looked at the X50 I saw that the dot waqsn't moving at all. I turned the detector off and then back on and during its start up mode it froze on "blue". It seems to be working fine now but I'm a little worried its going to freeze without me noticing. Has this ever happened to anyone? Any way to prevent / fix this?

Don't leave your detector in your car where the LCD gets to cold

Bring your detector in at night

EDIT: The Escort has an LED screen NOT a LCD screen
Sorry for the confusing it has caused!!!!

this would only work if the problem was caused due to a bad screen not the actual device itself...... however you should keep the device from extreme cold.....

Is your X50 visor mounted? Sometimes the visor clip applies enough pressure to cause the buttons on top to get pressed, and while they're in the pressed state the X50 will appear to be frozen up. In this case, as soon as the button gets released the X50 will return to normal operation.

Of course, if it really froze, it's either an electrical problem or a problem with the X50.

how old is the detector and what rev. ? Anyone else hear something about coatings on certain windshilds that might do this? My suggestions are to try driving around in someone elses car for a bit; it might be a electrical problem. If you do a good amount of driving up in NH then you might want to consider the blinder m20. Now we're getting somewhere. There's too much electrical noise on your vehicle. Chances are that's what caused it to lock up. Search the forum for "filter capacitor" posted by me. That'll tell you exactly what you need to do.

Yeah, if he would have said the part about laser on start, I would have posted that at the beginning. I've run my RX65 when it's around 15 degrees farenheit out, no problem at all.

If you think about it, when a computer power supply has poor noise filtering, it causes a computer to randomly lock up. If you've got noisy power going into a sophistocated radar like the X50, one could expect the same result.
