Just got back today from a cross country trip to see some of my folks out in east TN/western NC. Well, I just wanted to say thanks to Escort for providing me with the opportunity to spend the best $300 I believe i've ever spent! I have the latest version of the X50 and the range on that thing was phenomenal regarding picking up the sneaky instant on shots that are the SOP of the Kansas highway patrol. Believe it or not I got mile and a half warnings for instant on Ka in both Kansas and western Kentucky on my trip. This detector blows my old Escort 4600 out of the water! Anyway, with regards to the strange laser encounter, it went as follows. I was on I-64 near Scott Air Force Base in Illinois and got a laser alert right before a bridge near the Air Force base (exit # unknown to me) and was running 80/65 and thought that I had gotten busted, looked around and up on the bridge, and no Illinois trooper running lidar was to be found. I thought that it was a very well hidden cop/trooper until my return trip when I got the alert in the exact SAME location going the opposite direction. Does anyone know if Scott AFB has some sort of laser security apparatus around the perimeter of the base? Other than this laser false, I did encounter what I believe to be legit lidar while traveling through St. Louis on I-70 even though I didn't see a cop anywhere. Perhaps the Belscorts have gotten just as good as the V1 in terms of picking up the Infinitis. Long story short, the latest version of the 8500/M4 kiss a** in my opinion. I'd love to see how well the redline would do on this same trip.
