    Default 9500ci and Future CIs

Did Escort ever consider offering the 9500ci with the radar only portion (no ZR4) at a different price? While I'm sure the next CI is many many years on the horizon, would this be something they might consider for a future version? I would love the convenience of not having to take my detector down every time I go on base, but the shifters are useless for someone with an extremely large vehicle or who lives in an area without laser. Spending the full price and not getting the use out of the ZR4 would just seem like a waste.

I wonder how much more a plain CI without GPS and laser shifters would be over say a Redline.

I kick myself for not buying an STI-R before they were discontinued. But I really don't want to spend $1600.00 plus install for a CI remote mount. I don't need the GPS, or laser shifters for my area. If I ran into laser that's one thing, but I don't have any redlight cameras near me, and I never encountered laser.

Now if I could get a basic Redline/CI, but in a remote mount, that wasn't much more than a Redline, I would likely buy it. I get tired of removing the Redline, and V1 from windshield and visor. But in this day and age you have to. At least I do.

I had never heard of the STI-R. Are there any test results on this detector? How does it perform overall compared to say a 9500ci/ix or redline?

It uses the M3 antenna and will work just as well as the other two units.

Actually the Sti-R has a certain set of features which may make it more effective than the other two RD's... but the difference is minimal. Its feature set-up is coveted though...too bad they were discontinued.

Is the M3 antenna the same one the ci and redline use? or the same one the 9500ix uses?

A 9500ci without ZR4s would be about $1300, not much difference.

ci & Redline use the M3 antenna, the 9500ix uses the M4 antenna. M3 is designed for ultimate sensitivity the M4 is designed for ultimate filtering of falses.

Sounds like I'll be getting an STI-R Plus once available. Thanks!
