    Default Low Volt!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

ok, i went to radio shack today to pick up a telephone wire and a rj-11 connector to put on my rx65 to hide the cord. So I put it together and plug it up but all it says is low volt. Why is that? I hope I didnt waste money on that stuff if it aint going to work. So if someone could please help me it would be great!!!!!!!
just to let people know, it was a 6ft long silver cord.

is there any way you could use a shorter cord, the longer the cord the more possibility for low voltage.

Completely true I forgot the equation used in car audio... I actually had a website with the amount of *power* loss due to many different AWG wire over many set distances.

HOWEVER, the voltage drop it is actually rather diminutive in most all cases, however, tele cord is so thin that sometimes, rarely, it does provide a problem....I would honestly check make sure all your connections and wires are secure with a Multimeter before blaming it on the 6ftcord.... Don't just say you did it...actually do it.

*Used 'power' -an incorrect terminology- inplace of the various terms you could insert there*

Assuming that the system voltage is OK you may have a bad connection somewhere. You could probably use 60ft of wire and not see a loss big enough to cause a low volt warning. Where are you tapping into power and ground, and how did you do it?

Start the vehicle and then turn on the detector. Check the voltage. If still no go, use smart plug only to chk voltage of vehicle both running and off. I thought that mine was too much phone line, but it may also have been a weak car battery. Also, is it a 4 prong coupler and phone cord?

I have a 12 ft extension for each of my detectors with no trouble. Exchange the cord and see if that was the problem.

Yeah cheap phone cords rarely are made in facilities accredited to ISO 9000

One of your connections are faulty. I'm running more than 6 foot of the cheapest line I had, still getting a steady 13.8-14.2 v
