Default 9500ix and its raw performance against the V1 (and Redline)?

So here's the thing. I like blue displays, I like frequency displays, I like arrows, and I like really impressive capabilities in terms of raw performance. Obviously can't get all four in the same package (yet).

    I have a V1 right now, and I formerly ran an 8500 x50.

The Redline is apparently on par or better than the V1 -- no independent tests yet (excluding Radartest.com for the time being) -- but the GoL tests of the 9500i / 9500ix versus the V1 tell a mixed story. The 08/2007 test has it sitting virtually even with the Valentine, but the 08/2009 test has the 9500ix getting kicked around a bit.

For you 9500ix AND V1 users, what's the story here? People told me previously that the later GoL results are true to "real world" experiences for long-time users of both detectors, but I figured I'd check in before dropping a few hundred on a toy.

I own both and the V1's raw performance is better than the ix.

The M4 platform seems to be sluggish in response and have tunnel vision.

Here is a little test I did against an "around the curve" K-band speed sign...

    X2.

Owned the IX for about a year before a family member got it. Great RD in the city, but head to head with my V1 and the STi-R there was significant difference on the highway.

I have a few 9500i/ix's and they preformed more than satisfactory. Though my 9500ix isn't as sensitive as my ci/V1 it never failed me when there was an immanent threat.

Though i love my V1/ci combo im not sure how necessary the extra sensitivity really is in the end. Its a different kind of RD for a different kind of experience.

If you can, get a 9500CI for exactly what you want with some added benefits.

My experience is differnent than most here. My 9500i and ix both had simmilar performance and performed very simmilar to my 3.864 V1. The 9500's were better on Ka (33.8), but the V1 may have had a slight K edge. My M3 detectors hold a healthy advantage over my V1's. One V1 (3.813, better range than 3.864) is in use (with a 9500ci, V1 muted just to supply arrows), the other resides in the archives since I'd rather have the Redlines range than the arrows.

I wouldn't be afraid of running another 9500ix, but after getting used to the range of the M3 detectors, its would be harder to go back.

I have the ix and I will admit it took a while to get use too, but after figuring it out, it has saved me many times on the highway and in the city, it is very quite in the city, I've been alerted miles in advance as well as just yards away, but I've been saved more than a dozen times, it has paid for itself, I wouldn't mind trying a V1 on the highway just to see how it works, but it will be a while before I cough up a couple of hundreds for it, unless I find someone to donate one to me then I'll try it sooner than planned, all donations are welcomed so I can test one soon.

Nearly as important as the V-1s superior sensitivity, is it's consistency
Unlike the schizophrenic response of the 9500i-ix,
the V-1s linear ramp-up is an actual reflection of signal strength.

Very true, however there is something to say for a RD that tends to only alert to real threats, and the aded sensativity of the V1 though give a nice comfert zone the 9500ix will still provide saves just the same under most circumstances.

Its a truly perplexing decision now that i have owned both.

Thanks, folks. Can any of you guys vouch for the suspicion held (somewhat) on these boards that the Redline is going to oust the V1 as raw performance king whenever GoL gets around to it?

As far raw sensitivity, I thought it already did. Look at the 9500ci test results.
