Default Escort Redline versus newest version of Escort 8500x50?

Hey guys, I was just curious if any of you guys out there may have owned the newest version of the Escort 8500x50 before buying a Redline? Not to sound utterly stupid or anything, but is there an EXTREMELY noticeable difference in performance between the two detectors? On a side note, I was just entering the city limit of Colorado Springs today on I-25 and got a K band alert on my 8500x50. Naturally, I slowed down to 5 over because the Colorado Springs motorcycle cops run predominately hand held K band. So, I kept looking for the LEO and didn't see him. However, what I did see was an unmistakeable K-band drone that was mounted onto a light pole and it had a small solar panel attached to it as its power source. So, is the sole purpose of these drones to make detector users slow down? Thanks in advance for the good info!

That my friend is a traffic flow monitoring drone. It is only there to monitor and collect traffic flow data. They are typically placed on highways at about 1 mile intervals.

Enabling TSR on your X50 (listed in "bands") will reduce alerts to these drastically if not eliminate them altogether.

Comparing the X50 to the Redline is like comparing a Yugo to a Ferrari, there's that much difference.

Don't know about the drones, don't have them here.

You have my interest. Elaborate please. Exactly where are the differences? Unless the Redline picks up I/O before it's activated or is much better at picking up laser, what is the benefit of giving up my X50 and forking over big bucks for the Redline?

First off, NO RD will keep you from getting a laser ticket. You need a laser jammer if it's a problem.

Second, K band and Ka band are leaps and bounds better on the Redline, there's no comparison. The M3 antenna of the Redline somehow "sees" through hills and turns. It's truly amazing.

As far as I/O goes, it picks up I/O just fine.

Read through the Redline posts here from owners like me. I have owned and still own 8500s and X50s, but like I said, no comparison.

I would say it is more like comparing a Camaro or Mustang to a Ferrari, not a Yugo...

RedLine uses a stealth dual horn antenna. It is totally undetectable by any detector detector and offers the longest range of any radar detector (equal to our flagship 9500ci installed system), much better range than an X50. The RedLine also adds quality voice alerts and a magnesium metal case.

With the additional detection range you have a better chance of detecting I/O radar when someone ahead of you is targeted.

X50 used to be "world's best" but I was never impressed with it especially ones based on the tunnel vision M4 platform. The M3 platform is great except that it can be lathargic
