Default Question for forum members concerning the Escort Redline/P.S. Escort rep please read

I personally feel that the Redline SHOULD have the same distinct tones as the current 8500x50s so that you can differentiate between the bands. I realize that the Redline has voice alerts that specify the relevant bands, but I don't understand why the Redline makes the same beep tone for BOTH k and ka bands on that detector while X band does have its own distinct tone. Escort, why is this? I didn't start this thread in order to moan and complain but to provide ideas that will hopefully make a good detector an even better one. So, what do you think that chances are that Escort will change the Redline and make it where each band on the Redline has its own distince warning tone just like the Escort 8500x50?

RedLine's K and Ka band alerts sound different, they are braps and double braps resepectively, which is what they are on the X50.

The one problem with the K & Ka tones on the newer Escorts is that a maxed-out Ka alert sounds more-or-less the same as a strong but not maxed-out K alert. For C/O alerts that ramp up gradually, this isn't an issue since you can easily tell the brap from the double-brap with weaker alerts, but if you get an I/O hit and it goes right to brapabrapabrapabrapa it isn't obvious if it's K or Ka right away, until you hear the voice alert or look at the display. The V1 is the same way but on the Redline the full-scale Ka is a different "brap rate" than the lower-level Ka alerts where the double brap is distinguishable. Almost like the braps get joined together at full scale.

Something along the lines of the X50's "LOUD" mode Ka alert would have been nice to have on the Redline.

Oh yeah, I totally forgot about the X50's LOUD setting. That's probably what is making the sound different. I think we just changed everything over to the loud setting on all detectors and removed the option to toggle it off and on.

After doing a little test I can see where a strong alert could sound very similar between K and Ka.

Actually the newer alerts are closer to the non-loud X50 alerts than the loud ones. Granted, they're a LOT better sounding than the X50 alerts, but not as distinguishable as the loud ones.

It would be nice if Escort would put all the good things they have on one RD and not charge 2000 dollars for it.

I like the alert tones on the Redline, have no problem's between K & KA. To be honest the V1 is harder to tell the difference between the two for me.

Same way it was when i first got the V1 at night i had to turn the cab light on to see what band was flashing, but after a while you'll get use to it....

Got the colored LEDs on the V1 CD to help differentiate and it has been great.

No issues with the Redline, but I do use the voice...she sounds nice!
