Default horn setting off laser x50

I remember someone posting about this a long time ago but I never experienced it in my other cars. However, in my 1985 honda prelude, if I chirp the horn just right, it'll set off a laser alert. What's up with that?

That's due to interference through your car's electrical system. Is it hardwired? If so, you may be able to fix the problem by moving your power source to a different circuit. Escort's hardwire adapter has some filtering built in to help with this, and might also be of use if you are not using it. If you are just using the standard cig lighter cord then I guess the only thing to do is hardwire it to as clean a power source as you can find (interior lighting circuits work well.)

hmm i dont think there's a clean source anywhere in the car. i wonder what the issue is. bad ground maybe? but i dont know how to ground things better than how they came. like if i have on my lights and i turn a signal for the first few times, itll make my lights cut out for a split second. if i wire a lot of things or even not, sometimes my lights will cut out, or my amp, or even my radio. i get all sorts of cutting out in terms of power in the car. dont know whats going on

The likely issue is your electric system is crumbling and shorting out everywhere. Particularly on a 20-year old Honda, the insulation on the wires isn't very long-lasting.

Add into the fact of rust around the main grounds and stuff, plus naked wires touching the chassis when you hit a bump and such, not good.

If you want to fix it good you're going to have to rip out the interior and all the wires and, oh take it from me it's a PITA!

I've had mine false on horn, or remote start. Doesn't happen often. This is on a brand new Ford van so just being an older vehicle doesn't cut it. I don't have LASER or POP because of all the falses, so I don't get the falses from the horn or remote start anymore.

    Default me

it was me posting it before. 2000 audi a6 the horn intermittently triggered laser. I have a factory recall for a covering of wires in the steering column.
I'll set it on V meter and see what the voltage drops to.
Scares the bejesus outta ya because you give the horn a toot and then LASER bites your head off!!!!

All good though. active countermeasures are the only real protection plus veil for half way.

My buddy's 04 dodge srt4 sets the laser warning off on the x50 when he honks the horn.

    Default testing time

ok, testing...laser enabled, horn horn horn til is sets of laser. then disable laser in voltage mode...and record accordingly.
Seems the X50 is missing a CAPACITOR......silly thing not to design it with a temporary voltage/wattage drop.
But- i still love it, and it serves me well.

Laser encounter- it screams. Veil and jammer one day soon....once Blinder stops the patent crying to protect the marketshare.

"we make light bulbs...they give light......"
"you cannot make another light bulb because it also makes light...."

Funny if the purpose is to range parking in the marketing cover...hmmmm... So who owns patents on parking sensors? oh no - not dodge or ford I hope!!! bwahhhahahaha...

I'll just bypass and obtain through other avenues IF the testing shows which one is wonderful.

    Discussed in this thread: http://radardetector.net/viewtopic.php?t=479&highlight=

Cliffnotes: Try another power location or try 1uF capacitor (like V1 uses).

This is a lot more common in turbo cars and old beaters with worn out distributor caps.
