Refurbished escort 8500 vs. X-50

Radar community,

For my price range, I've decided on an escort 8500 for basic protection.

Escort's official eBay account offers the 8500 for $150 and the x-50 for $200.

Ive read that the regular 8500 is more reliable than the x-50 and I want something that lasts- Not a product I have to send back after 6 months.

Any advice on which to buy?

Is the x-50 better with more features?

Which is an all around better, more reliable product?

Also, I've read about the Escort C65. What's the deal with that? How Does it compare to the 8500. It looks like I can get a brand new one for $200.

From my understanding the 8500 is a better RD than the X50. It is more responsive. The problem with the 8500 is it's not as reliable as the X50. You will have to send it into Escort more often then the X50 to get it fixed.

As far as I know, all of the 8500/X50s on ebay from escort are the S7s, which are known to be less reliable. Don't let that keep you from buying one however, a well kept RD will treat you well.

The 8500 is the better buy of the two, being $50 cheaper but lacking pop protection (which is useless anyways) and has better response times.

Personally, having owned both, I prefer the X50. It is used as a back-up.

I would go with New Escort C65 for $189,I just dont like anything used or refurb
C65 has USA Ka Mode,Ka detection should be more sensitivy then 8500 or x50...

But ,Ramp up is really bad on C65

I got my X50 from escorts ebay store and after about 2 1/2 months I had to send it in (where it currently is now) but its under warranty and they paid the shipping so its all good.

I'm still confused, I can't afford to buy a refurb, so I have to buy one used, would you reccomend the 8500 or the X50?

I use to own a pair of X50 and they were great. They both had "calibration" issues months after ownership. I would resolve the issue buy turning the radar off than back on and in most cases it fixed the issue in I try.
