Just a little background info: I bought an X50 new in 2007, which I was very pleased with. It was an all around good detector. It felt reasonable sturdy, the audio was good, and it was a good performer. I sold it a while ago, and regretted it. I went to Best Buy last week to buy exactly the same model, the X50. Well as soon as I unwrapped it, I noticed a difference. I guess Escort doesn't use the nice leather carrying cases anymore, they use vinyl zipper cases. Aside from that, the detector just felt cheaper made than my X50 from 3 years prior. When I actually put it in the car, the speaker was horrible. It was very rattlely, like whenever it alerted the speaker made a rattling noise. I took it back for a refund, now I'm nervous about trying to buy another. Like I said, I was very satisfied with my older 6.3 (I believe) version that I bought around 2007. Does anyone else notice a difference in quality? If I looked on ebay, would there be any way to tell the difference between these new ones and one like my old one by looking at the serial numbers?
