Ramp up is basically 3-4 stages, the big issue is the audio bouncing around as your approaching the source. I have had beautiful ramp up, but other times its just full tilt blaring mess. Seems to be ok on straightaways, and aggressive around curves, hills, city's ect...

I would never mount a RD any lower than the RVM. I prefer the higher position for over hill encounters, stealthy look and less clutter on the windshield for a clear view.
If its slightly above RVM it can partly rest on it or in my case with my Redline it rests on the head liner and is solid as a rock. But i don't use the super cup.
