Self Cal mode

Hey all,

I was driving one day and stopped at a light. I think the 8500 picked up a speed sign so I thought nothing of it. Then all of the sudden I hear a strange beep and look up, it said SELF CAL. WTF? What is this? Do I have to buy a new detector?

My S7 SRX did the same thing a couple of times, but it never turned into a problem. If it does it a bunch, then it's a problem. If it's an isolated incident, then it's probably OK. I wouldn't worry about it yet.

x2 start praying you dont get any more of those.. usually after that youll get a bunch of laser falses and probably end up sending it in for repair...

An occasional "sef cal" message is normal operation for our detectors. If you notice this happening frequently then that is a sign of a problem.

If you see a "service required" message then the detector encountered a serious problem and needs to be serviced.

Thanks. It does need a service. Everytime I hit the horn LASER comes up. This is hardwired into my car. I called Escort and they wanted some crazy price to fix this. Forget it. I'll wait for the Redline or something else. I can live with it..just can't hit the horn! LOL
