do you guys turn off your x50 when you turn off the car, or do you just kill the ignition and turn it off that way?

i have mine hardwired directly from the battery, so it never goes off unless i do it manually. if i turn off my car it still stays on cuz its not wired from the fusebox. and this way i dont have to worry about power surge and what not

I shut it off before shuting down the car..

..I start the car .. then plug the RD back on 8)

I do this because I have to Hide the RD
but with the new STi, this might changes

If you use the hardwire kit, it's designed to turn off when the car turns off. That's why they have a built-in fuse in the wire to prevent any power surges from reaching the RD. (just like the cig lighter wire has a fuse at the base).

Your suppose to wire it to the car's fusebox. (at least i did) so technically there are two fuses between my STi and the car battery. So far no problems and it's mounted high and I have tinted windows 20%.

So my RD never comes out of my car and nobody knows it's even there. Plus the bright blue Viper LED with my 2 way responder remote helps too.

I would at least reset the power if you leave it on, when you get back in your vehicle. It seems as long as I do this, mine seems to work OK for the time being. If I leave it on for several days, it tends to not detect X or K band.

    Default Reply To Hardwiring

Hey I hardwired mine to a silver togle switch on my left hand side in my 94 ford ranger below the light switch and from there to the battery and I am not using the included smart cord but the other one that plugs in to the RJ11 and from the switch at the other end goes to my battery.

after starting truck or before starting truck I then flip my togle switch as well as the neon lights I have in side lol, I feel like im on board a war ship or somthing cause there colored lighted so when they are on the switches light up on the neon ones lol, any ways then it boots up and then after turning the truck off I flip the togle switch off and it's off
