I'm finding that I'm nearly in the intersection when the 9500ix finally tells me about RLC's and other points I've marked. I have "maybe" 1-2 second" to react. This is doing 45mph. If I was doing 60 or better I'm sure I'd already be past the RLC when I got an alert.
At 45mph you cover 66ft/sec. So theoretically, you should get 250/66 = 3.78 seconds advance warning. But in reality, I don't think I get near that. Or...... by the time I can realize it's an RLC alert, a second or two has already passed, leaving only a second or two to react (if necessary).
FTR, I never run redlights. Just fun to know where they (RLC's) are.
Is this just my unit or is anyone else having this issue with a 9500ix?
Escort says that when you mark a RLC it gives you a warning 250ft before the marked location.
Is the way around this to remove the mark, and next time mark the location further back from the intersection? Maybe another 200-400ft further back?
What I usually do with custom marked locations is as I see something not in the database, I wait until I'm stopped at the intersection for the redlight and mark it then. it's somewhat a PITA to back up in the middle of traffic 200 - 400 ft to mark it early enough to get an adequate warning.
C'mon Escort...change it to 400ft.
