    Default Redline in the Sun

So I may just be completely paranoid, but I feel like this is worth mentioning. Anyway, I recently hardwired my redline located above my RVM, between it and my toll transponder. It fits snugly and removing it is a pain in the ass. I was wondering if it would be ok if I just left it there during the day soaking up sunlight. I tried removing it earlier and it was way too hot to touch. Will leaving it in direct sunlight damage the unit over a long period of time or am I just worrying too much?

Though heat effects electronics, RD's make plenty of heat on there own and are designed to work at higher temperatures. I have left all my RD's up 365 days a year and never had any out of the ordinary issues.

Operating temps of RD's are from ~20 degrees to ~150 degrees and its rare to reach those extremes.
Most RD's have the ability to correct inconsistencies due to temperature that effects the few sensitive components like oscillator circuits, solder joints can deal with heat pretty well but like anything else there can be minor "manufacturing Inconsistencies" that can be exacerbated by heat over time.

Instead of taking it down this is my solution to a heat concern, which sounds like you have done this already:

    Bright sunny day.

With the heatwave that's been going on in most of the US, it can't hurt to take it down.
