Default Can we get a Beltronics/Escort Rep in here?

Since we have so many unasnwered questions, it would save us a lot of time to have a Belscort rep answer some of our questions and concerns...

    i.e.
    detector performance variance
    self-cal issues
    service required issues
    poor customer feedback/customer satisfaction
    Ka issues
    POP falsing
    Upgrade-ability (false promises?)
    Next Generation of detectors
    50%increase false advertising
    etc.

I know this has been suggested before, but I think it would do Beltronics wonders in terms of customer loyalty and satisfaction to have a rep in here to answer our queries.

I don't think they should be subject to bashing either, but if there is a concern the rep shouldn't be handled with kid gloves either.

Lets see if they come around or not.

As a former 8500 owner, I was very satisfied with the performance of my previous unit. Has quality control and/or quality in general gone down and why?

My new 8500 had very good K range, but absolutely horrible Ka range. This has been the experience of several other members in the forum, why? I spend 300 plus on a detector I expect it to work, work right and for a very long time.

Other consumer items are discarded at the assembly line if there are problems with the product, gilette razors and condoms come to mind. If Escort/Bel want to save face they should increase quality control. I would reccomend they test every single unit before it leaves the factory, if they don't already. As well, if they don't want to go that route, say they test 1 out of every 100, if there is a problem with that one, they should round up the most recent 1000 units and see why there is a problem.

My suggestions would probably result in reduced profits short term, which wont impress pragmatic bean counters, but will do wonders for their long-term profits.

They do watch this forum, as it is the main source of feedback from enthusiasts and sharing of information and news for radar detectors. I doubt they would have an official Rep posting on here though.

I wonder if they notice the number of complaints, questions, concerns vs. their competitors as well as their return rate.

And this is coming from a prospective STi buyer and former 8500 and 8500X50 owner.

    Belscort?

Perhaps the reason for the 1620 and new distributor is due to the fact of interdetector variance. Hopefully there will be less variance and outstanding performance from all units that leave the factory now. Just like my experience with the original 8500.

Yeah, but I'm sure they get plenty of that through phone calls and emails...

Mike Batten from Whistler posts on here from time-to-time, and has provided some valuable information. My hat is off to him.

Interdetector variance with the STi would be a BIG concern. It would be a disaster if the odd unit snuck through that would be VERY detectable. I wonder if Roy will test his batch to check this out?
