Default Opinions on refurb 8500 or 8500 x50 for basic threat protection.

Just been thinking about picking up either one of those refurb units for basic threat protection for in city driving (incl local highways) to be used in my weekend car. The Redline is being used in the DD and will also be used during interstate travel. Currently, I move the Redline from car-to-car. I do not want to spend money on getting a 9500ix (I understand the benefits of reducing falses). What are your thoughts? Which model would you recommend?

I'd keep moving your Redline from car to car. But if I didn't, out of those two I'd get the 8500 over the 8500 X50.

I move my Redline from car to car. However, the 8500 is no slouch. I have had an 8500 X50 S7 for years now as my backup detector and it still performs well.

I'd keep moving the Redline though ... as long as you leave your mounts up in each car it's not much of a bother for the best protection in the business.

The refurb 8500 would be a very good backup.

Anyone know if the X50 refurbs are S7 or M4? If the x50's are M4 platform, then I would go with the 8500 regular, because all of those refurbs are S7's.
