Default Qi45 vs. SR7 (or SRX)

I was going down the road of getting a Qi45 but noticed that you can get an older SR7 for alot cheaper and even the SRX with the dated laser shifters is the same price as the Qi45.

Reading other threads it sounds like all of these are M4 Escorts and basically have the same detection capability, but am I missing anything? For example, is there a software update on the Qi45 that I wouldn't be able to get on an SR7? I'm probably going with LI for jammers so wouldn't use the ZR4 upgrade potential in the Qi45.

Doesn't seem like there is any reason to get a Qi45 while there are still supplies of SR7s and SRXs being liquidated...

    Thanks!

The detection performance is very similar between the SR7, SRX, and Qi45. The Qi45 will probably have slightly better Ka detection then the others.

The main difference is that the Qi45 is easier to install. Another difference is the Qi45's display/controller is smaller and again, easier to install. The only other difference I can think of is that the Qi45 offers the same female voices as the 9500 series and RedLine detectors.

Thanks. Ka sensitivity does matter to me being in Cali...is this a software difference between the two units b/c I thought the antennas were identical?

To me, it seems like the install advantage of the Qi is only relevant if you use the optional Escort laser shifters (ie b/c they plug into the antenna and don't need to be run back to the main unit). Beyond that, I can't really detect any meaningful difference between the designs other than the optional remote mute on the SR7 (ie, on both units, you need to install a remote antenna with wires leading back to head unit; need to install a remote display / controls with wire leading back to head unit; need to tap into power).

There are some hardware differences between the Qi45 and the older SR7 and SRX antennas that increase Ka detection. This is also true with respect to the 9500i/ix and X50s.

You are correct the install advantage of the Qi45 is mostly effected when installing the shifters. Another difference is that there is a larger speaker in the interface (head unit) module of the Qi45 while the SR7/SRX uses a small speaker in the display controller module.

Interesting. Last clarification, is it that the Qi45, 9500i and X50 have M4 antennas while the SR7 is the older S7 antenna design? Or some other difference?

No they all use M4 horns now. The internal antenna board has some differences between them.

What about the horns comparison of SR7 and 9500ci?

They are entirely different antennas. The 9500ci's M3 antenna delivers a noticeable increase in sensitivity and is invisible to all RDDs (radar detector detectors).

    M3>S7>M4

I'd rather have an old SR7(SRX) over the new Qi-45 any day of the week... and I mean OLD... SR7, as in S7... not to mention the lidar sensor optics are better since they are not tied to the radar-antenna.

The SR7/SRX have a superior design... and they were going for much cheaper than the shabby Qi-45 at one point.
