Default Just purchased a used 9500IX off of ebay.

I just purchased a used 9500IX off of ebay and when it arrived I immediately went to purchase a three year subscription.

I called tech support for some help and they asked me "Where did I purchase it?" Like an idiot I said, "I got it on EBAY!" I was told "We frown on ebay purchases."

Because I don't have the original owners email address, I can't register the unit in my name OR use my 3 year subscription. I asked if it was reported stolen, they said no. I asked if it was illegal, they said no.

I went back to the ebay seller and asked if he was the original owner. He said he purchased it from a pawn shop over a year ago and there was no yellow card that I asked for or a box.

I go back to Escort. I explain where I purchased it, that it's not stolen, that I have a receipt, that I even have the receipt from the pawn shop where the seller purchased it from. No luck. I ask for supervisors, managers and I get voice mail boxes that are full.

Now, I can easily go the illegal route and find a torrent with the tools and updates, but I don't want to. I paid good money for a great RD, paid decent money for a database that they will not allow me to use and now I'm just aggravated.

Any suggestions besides a vallium or selling the unit?

eBay is just a bad way to buy something of this caliper. Just send it back and buy a new one. Or atleast know where/who it was from.

It was a pawn shop, who knows if it was actually stolen or not. If it was it would need to be reported. eBay is also not an authorized Escort dealer. Escort will support there products as long as there is a real paper trail to the original purchaser or bought new from an authorized dealer.

Larry may be able to get you the subscription though.

No but what if one of us say wanted to upgrade to get rid of something old do you get what I'm saying?

The New Owner shouldn't have a problem with it !!!!!!! This makes Escort look like crap

That's not a problem, as long as there is the correct paperwork. I also believe the new detector tools will down load the database for him if he paid and re-registered.

I can't return it, because technically there is nothing wrong with it. Escort being DB's about their unit isn't the sellers fault or ebays. I mean I can, I can argue with PayPal that it's not "fully functional" but I'm too old to be B.S.ing and I don't want to screw the seller over. He was very clear that there was no box or registration card.

Downloads and torrents are easy, Google is your friend and any antivirus so long as it's updated will protect you. But! I don't want to do that. I shouldn't have to.

I'll fight. I'll be a 6'4" 390lbs hemoroid in Escort's rear end. I'm not going to let it slide. I'll even prove to them I can get the files for free, start a website showing how to do it (for educational purposes). Then again all of the managers/supervisors/peeps with pull voice mails are full.

It's stupid. If I buy a Mercedes, a blender, a pair of Nikes off of Ebay it's still YOUR product. You made it, you sold it, you made money off of it when you sold it, it wasn't stolen or fell off of one of your trucks from your factory, it's legit. Why act like....

Meh, I'll take this fight up again tomorrow.

Three bills. Not bad. If there was no aggravation involved it would be awesome.

This is just Escort trying to strong arm people into purchasing new.
