Default Redline road test after repair

I've covered 1,100 miles since my Redline was returned last week for an antenna repair. Initially I noticed it was not alerting in the usual way to the pair of K-band speed signs in my local neighborhood in Utah. The unit picked up the signs, but in both cases when it was about 300 yards closer than previous encounters. I sort of 'parked' that thought until more encounters. There is little to no K-band in open desert. Upon crossing into Nevada, there are a bunch of casinos in Wendover that the Redline always alerted to as I passed them on I-80. No alerts in Wendover. It seems the unit is not as sensitive as before, at least with K-band. It is difficult to establish Ka sensitivity at this point.

I'll chime in here again in a week after I log another 1,000 miles eastbound.

That's does't sound very Cool about your RD, my spider sense would be tingeling in your case here. Obviously only time will tell on the overall performance of your RD after your next trip. Hopefully it works out for ya so you won't have to send back into Escort, that would suck.

I think you need to send it back in and ask them for a new one.Sounds like there is definitely something wrong with it and obvoiulsy they can't fix it.

Sorry to hear that. It seems most people usually report BETTER performance after sending theirs in.

I should be better, I think that I would ask them for a new one.

Well, it is performing better - it is filtering out more false alerts!

First question is what mode was it in.

I think my RedLine came back a little weaker on K-Band after having it repaired back in May for a drop off in 35.5 Ka performance.

That is, it alerts a little closer to known K-Band false locations than what it did before I sent it in. However, I suppose it's still extremely sensitive as the new V1 I had for a couple weeks did not alert to a few of these locations at all. NOTE: I had POP turned off on the V1 so it may not have been running at it's full potential on that band.

Anyway, they fixed the 35.5 issue I had where detections were becoming line of sight on that frequency.

The few K-Band encounters I have had since have all been great though so I'm not really concerned. They also did a software update at the time they repaired the antenna, so that might factor in to the slight reduction in range to these K-Band sensor alerts??? I don't know as there was no explanation given for the software update.
