    Default Why Do Detectors like the Solo 2 have crappy RDD performance

    The reason someone would buy a cordless detector is because they want to be able to hide the thing quickly in a shirt or jacket pocket. In Ontario the police actively look for cars with them especially on the highways coming from the boarder.

    So a cordless unit would be about the only non stealth one you could use. Except the cordless ones emit so much signal they are at the bottom of the list for evading RDD equiped police checkpoints.

    If Escort make a cordless one that was undetectable by RDD equipment then I am sure they would sell a ton to truckers who have to drive here.

    Well they have the STI and the Redline which can't be detected. If it is hardwired high, then they wouldn't be able to see it.

    everything is better with wires and a good source of constant power. faster performance, better detection.

    wireless = poo.

    See page 6 of Radar Roy's buying guide on choosing a detector. It says that cordless detectors turn themselves off and on in milliseconds to conserve battery power. Because of the cycling, a buyer of a cordless detector will sacrifice range and sensitivity-about 30% less range than a corded detector and the ability to detect POP radar is also sacrificed. Info found at Radar Roy's buying guide page 6 detector types. I don't believe I have enough posts to post links or I would have. I'll try anyway. http://www.radarroysbuyersguide.com/...ctor-types.htm

    honestly your much better off with the visor clip, the pouch has been known to cut down on the range

    I'm getting a solo2 escort to put around my dogs collar so when I walk her in the park I know what's going on.

    If you see flashing lights in your rearview mirror or worse you come up to a RIDE checkpoint or a Laser Speed trap you cannot reach up take your detector down and hide it in time. If it has a cord on it then it is easy to see and the cord is very hard to hide quickly.

    Battery technology has made huge leaps in the past decade due to cellular phone uses. Why can't a good non leaky battery powered detector be designed?
