No detector will help you with laser. You need a laser jammer. Period. The 2 we recommend most on the forum are the Laser Interceptor and the Blinder Mx7.

i am aware that once they use laser you are pretty much screwed... but if they shine it on a car infront of you or near you... from my understanding the beam can get pretty wide(if shot at a long distance).. is the redline good at picking up the laser if it was shot near you?

I have been hit with laser 7 times since i've had my redline. It has alerted once. And that was an ambush shot, and it was well after my LI started going off.

    Mounted high above my RVM.

Why? It's a radar detector. By the time it goes off laser. You've already been hit. You need a laser Jammer?

It's one of the top performing radar detectors.

No. Like I said in my first post which you seemed to like my answer, no radar detector will help you with laser...Doesn't matter if it is the Redline or the V1. You are highly unlikely to pick up a shot before it is aimed at you. When you do pick it up, the cop already has your speed. The beam of your average LIDAR gun is less than 3ft wide at 1000ft. Most shots take place under 500ft. I've had my STi-R miss shots and the antenna is in the grill near the plate which is where officers typically aim. You need a jammer and a good radar detector. You can't deal with just a radar detector thinking it will help you with laser because it will not.

There are lots of good reasons to not get a Redline without even considering laser performance.

Like others have already said, choosing your RD based on laser is like choosing your wife based on shoe size. Pointless.

Dom I just replied to the PM you sent me about the detectors, are you planning on getting both the Redline and 8500 x50 or just one over the other, if your willing to spend the price of a Redline, but thinking about getting the 8500 x50 instead then I would defiantly suggest looking at getting the 9500ix or the V1 unless of course you live in VA or Washington DC in which case the Redline is the way to go.
