Default What Exactly Happens During Self-Calibration?

I got another Ka-band false on my 9500ci today. It happened right after I started up the car (it's on a switched circuit). It seems as though this occurs when the RADAR antenna is close to a flat surface, such as a wall or a garage door. Is it possible that the self-calibration is leaking some tiny little signal that then bounces off some nearby object and then gets picked up by the antenna? Or is there some other explanation?

The funny thing is I've had this thing for over a year but it only started falsing like this after I installed it. For a long time I was running it in test mode with the RADAR antenna sitting on a non-slip pad on my dashboard, and it never falsed at startup.

Its normal, now that you installed up front it can get just the right reflection back to the antenna during self cal start up giving off a false KA band alert. Only happens when facing a pretty flat large surface and fairly close.
