9500ci without laser shifter?

I notice that the laser shifting feature comes standard with the 9500ci. Does anyone know if it can be ordered without the laser shifter? And if not - can it be installed without the laser shifter, and function as a standard radar/laser detector?

It can not be ordered with out them but can be installed with out them. During its' start up sequence it will inform you that there are no shifters installed.

Don't worry, you won't need the shifters regardless. They offer zero protection as it is. Look into a STi-R.

But yeah, you can leave the shifters uninstalled at the expense of a couple more beeps during the startup sequence.

You cannot order it without the shifters, but you can choose not install them. During its' start up sequence without the shifters it will inform you that there are no shifters installed. However you will have no laser protection at all without them unless you buy another jammer.

I did this, installed the 9500ci, and have the laser shifters tucked away up behind the dash to avoid the error messages, and had an LI Quad HP installed as the laser solution. I love the setup b/c it's very stealth inside the car (although I do like the run with the V1 b/c of the directional information).
