I wish I would have found this site sooooooo much sooner.

My loving wife got me an xmas gift of a Whistler 1973 se...from Costco thinking she was being a loving and protecting person that she is. The thing falsed so much that it was, take it back and go shopping. Not her fault at all.

I poked around the web a little bit and it looked like the x50 would be just the thing....less falsing(is that a word?) and great protection. I Googled it and the price I got was like $329 and compared to the $129 for the Whistler it was just not right on my mind the huge difference....sooooo

Out to Ebay I went and the rest is history....I picked one up for a fair buy it now price, but now after coming here I have some serious regrets about the no manufactures guarantee and such.

It said that there was a 3 year warranty but, who knows? It said new in box, but I am thinking not. When I opened the box, none of the individual items were wrapped in plastic and the power cord was plugged into the detector. It is missing the collar for the cig lighter, which I need for the car I was going to use it in.

My questions to you all are, when new are all the items in the box individually wrapped in plastic? would there be a litte vinyl strip over the front of the red detector lens, would the power cord be plugged into the unit in the case? would the collar not be present?

I feel like such a non-informed turd prior to buying this now, but live and learn...THIS IS A GREAT SITE!!!!

    Thanks, madmmac

I'M supprised no one else has posted. You have either scammed by someone saying it's a new detector and repackaging it (a) OR (b) the product could be stolen.

There should have been vinyl scratch resistant plastic on it. Sounds weird. but did it have the new type of smell?

IIRC the lighter cord is plugged into the X50 as shipped. I don't think they wrapped the pieces in plastic either. This was a NEW X50 I bought from Roy. Since the X50 comes in a nice padded case, perhaps they don't bother wrapping the pieces in plastic.

There might have been a strip of protective plastic over the display, but I don't recall if there was or not now.

To find the revision, hold down all 3 buttons (the two on top, plus the mute on the front) while turning the X50 on. The revision will display briefly on the display. Note that this will reset everything to factory settings, so do it before customizing anything.

I can verify that it does come pluged in and no it does not come with film over pannel so it could be new or it could not? but if it were new the original box does come with plastic rapping over it and is sealed
