Thinking about a 2nd unit I have been reading here lately to catch up and see questions like "Redline or 9500ix". I kind of had the same thing in mind.
I drive another vehicle other than the one in my signature, the real reason I have a detection device.
Recently I found myself running fast and naked because the 9500ix was still in the OTHER vehicle. Lucky it was laser and my my Lidatek picked it up.
This told me I had better get another unit and not stress over swapping them between vehicles.
For those still contemplating I'll give my take.
I drive lots of mixed roadways, from back country small town speed traps to I-75 to Atlanta and all the Interstates branching out from there. Sometimes I have to hammer down to get to an on the job situation.
Being exposed to all sorts of traps and cameras I could not imagine not having the GPS capabilities of the 9500ix..........for my purposes anyway. I LOVE to press that mute and store location button feature. Ahhh the silence & trap markers!
As far as the distance improvement of the Redline, knocking on wood here I'll say my 9500ix does a fine job. I'm sure the Redline is a fine unit but the 9500ix has not left me wanting as far as distance and cresting hills and such.
So today I ordered a 9500ix using the promo trade-in, extra 12v cord and super cup mount. I asked then to keep the extra 12v cord and substitute it with a smart hard wire but they would only knock 50% off the hard smart cord keeping the extra 12v. So I had to bite it. The trade in is a 20 year old Uniden :-). May it rest in peace, it was one hell of a K & Ka band detector.
