X50 has same detection capability as 9500ix?

Ok guys, don't bash me too much over this, but in the FAQ on Escorts website I saw the following statement: "The Passport 9500ix, Passport 9500i, and the Passport 8500 X50 have the same detection range".

Having said that, I just want to know if I purchase the SC55 to go with my X50, does that create a 9500ix by proxy? It seems like that would be just as good. Thanks.

I was wondering that too since I already have a Passport 8500 X50. If the detection performance is the same, other than the extra size of the added component, the only thing we wouldn't be getting by adding the SC55 is the "auto learn" to eliminate false alerts right? Thanks

I used to use a 8500, my friend a 9500. He would get alerts much sooner than I would while driving.
Now with the V1, we switched places.

The X50 has been using the same platform as the 9500ix for a long time. The 9500ix just adds GPS-based filtering and speed-cam alerts.

In other words, one says X50 has same performance than 9500, another one doesn't. Didn't 9500 always beat the X50 in GOL tests??

What people are trying to say is the X50 and 9500ix both use an M4 and so should in theory have similar range (and probably what Escort is implying)

The older 8500s using the S7 should get different range than the 9500ix (either longer or shorter. The S7s were apparently known for their better off axis detection)
