Default 4 yr. old X50 failed me last week.

I got nailed with radar last week and my X50/8500 didn't make a peep. It was a motorcycle cop hiding right by my house. I am sure I wasn't doing 62 in a 45 zone, as my engine had been stone cold and running less than three min. from the time I left the house until he got me. I have an air-cooled 911 and don't stomp on it when it's cold. Cop said he got me at 63 but locked me at 62. I find this odd, since I had just made a left turn onto the road, was accelerating and didn't see him, so I didn't slow down. As it's my first ticket in AZ, I can do the online driving school, but that costs more than the ticket. Just getting out of the points is the incentive there. Later on in the drive my RD easily picked up three other bike cops running Ka-band way in advance. I've been hit with I/O and laser before and, even if I'm totally sold, at least my RD goes nuts. How did this guy get me?

I sense some bs from that cop. Try to get as much evidence as you can and fight it.

Ticket says radar. He brought the radar gun up to my window and showed me as soon as he got to me. I didn't ask. I wish I had asked him to aim it at my RD and try it again. I need to read up on my discovery rights. I'd like to find out how many other tickets he wrote that day and for what speeds. I suspect he just came after the guy in the fast-looking car and forgot to even clock me, just used the speed he wrote the last guy for. I can't claim that in court. But I'd like to get some stats from him.

I wish I had known about QT last week to ask him. Still, how does it not even get a chirp out of my RD?

It's better not to ask him. If he doesn't know about QT, you don't want to teach him. We don't need to be training LEOs on beating countermeasures.

And I'm pretty sure I saw the cop again today as I was riding my motorcycle into the super market parking lot. But he was working an accident, so I couldn't go chat with him. I need to read up on traffic court around here. Since they let you buy your way out of the points with online traffic school, I'm guessing my chances before the judge aren't great.

Even the Top end RD's might miss QT, it's a Bitc* to pick up, I would not query the LEO world about this question though IMO.
