    Default 8500 x50 false laser

I've had my 8500 for about 3 years now and never had any problems. I recently mounted it under the rear view mirror with the Blendmount and invisicord in my 2010 CTS wagon which I think is an awesome installation. Now after I start the car and the GPS pops up out of the dash it will go into laser alert. It never did this when it was mounted to the windshield. I went to Escort and they said they tweaked it and to try it, I took it back out to their parking lot, reinstalled it and it still goes into laser alert? They said that there is really nothing that they can do about it. Any suggestions? I guess I can always start using the suction cups again...

Backlit LCD screens, such as in GPS devices, will cause laser alerts which sounds like what is going on here. You are going to have to move the detector farther away from the GPS screen in your vehicle.

If I install a QI45 with laser shifters will I need to cut holes in my grill or will everything work behind the grill?

Yes, the pop up radio screen will absolutely send the RD into a laser frenzy. I guess car makers don't care about RD users.

The shifter heads would need to have a complete, unobstructed "view" of the road ahead. But if you were looking at a jammer set up, I would recommend the LI. The LI jammer heads would need a complete, unobstructed "view" of the road as well.

Just turn off laser on the X50, won't do you any good anyway, add dual LI and you are good to go. I think that after 3 years of hanging on the windshield detectors should be checked out anyway. JMO

Agreed. My X-50 alerts laser every time I honk the horn or use my electric door locks. I even have one of those choke things wrapped around the power cord. No help. Never have had a "real" laser alert in the 5 yrs of owning it. When I honk the horn (because I'm pissed at some dumb-ass driver), the laser alert pisses me off even more!

Never been hit with laser? I've been hit twice in the past 2 months after dark on I71. This was before I mounted it on the mirror..

OKC moto cops went from using the Stalker II to using some new laser gun. I guess he didn't aim at my ass because my rd never made a peep. I checked it when I got home w/ my TV remote and it went off. So, I guess it works. Just annoys me about the horn and door lock thing.

It may not make a peep. Have you not read about this. RD are notifiers, IF in fact they do that. Good LEO with a good eye and you will never get a PEEP from a RD.
