    Default 9500ix problems, PLEASE HELP!

I've had my 9500ix for about 6 months or so, within that time its only gone off maybe 8 times (i live in a small town). When it does go off though I notice that it wont start alerting until the LEO is actually within line of sight and maybe less than half a mile away. This is just wayyy to close for me. I've tried registering it on the escort website to update it but it says the code is already in use. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this issue? Ive tried using different mounting angles but it seems to stay the same. Please help!

    Welcome to the forum!

I though the same thing when I first got my 9500ix. I'm assuming it's quiet then you get blasted with a full alert.

There are a few reasons I can think of:

    1. Instant On radar- The cookie cop shoots you once he sees you to clock you speed. Unless there are cars in front of you, you won't get an advanced alert

    2. Bad ramp up- The ix is know for it's bad ramp up. Instead of gradually alerting as the signal gets stronger, it'll alert at full blast. Mine did that last night.

    3. Muting feature- If you're driving under 20 and the GPS has locked in, it'll just beep twice, then as soon as you drive over 20 mph, it'll alert again.

Let me know if any of these sound familiar.

Is it in auto mode, it lowers X & K band sensitivity at lower speeds under 50mph. Also when the police hit you with radar what band do they use or do they maybe use laser ?

I bought it new, at least it was said to be new and in original packaging. I got it off eBay though so who really knows. I drive a dodge ram lifted 2 inches and I have it mounted just left of the rearview and just under the tint strip. There is never any ramp up it just starts going crazy whenever I can see the LEO. Usually its not instant on because I will pass the cop and the detector will start to go off pretty close to him and then I will pass him again through town and its the same story. Its so frustrating. I actually got pulled over doing 79 in a 55 a week ago and had my license taken as collateral to contact the court and pay my fine within 14 days. When this happened I was going around a VERY slight turn on a highway and the detector didnt go off until I could see the troopers front end come around the turn.

I usually run it in auto no X, and they usually use K or KA around here, too small of a town to have laser.

    All the suggestions here are very accurate. I would additionally recommend trying the following and compare performance;

    1) Restore all settings to default, including deleting saved ignore GPS coordinates.
    2) Disable Auto learn features
    3) Change sensitivity to Highway.

The goal is to disable all the filtering features and try to make a determination if the basic RD function is properly detecting signals.

If there is no change, you have a problem with your RD. The 9500ix is a good RD with very good range, not sure if Escort honors warranty if it was purchased from Ebay, Good Luck.

Try using highway mode. It's more sensitive that way. See if you notice any difference.

Man, that sucks that you got pulled over. Sorry about that.

Great advice, thanks guys... If these dont seem to work do you guys think it would be worth it to send it into escort for a tune up? The software on it has never been updated, think this may work??
