    Default Questions on my 9500ix

Ok i had a 8500 about a month ago and had it for 1 week before i found a great deal on my 9500ix.

Now, i had my 8500 on, on my way to pick up the 9500ix. And i got a great last test by picking up a local KA cop way before the car was in the line of sight.

Now my 9500ix i have had for about 2 weeks.

Only seen 3 cops since ive had it but heres the story.

I was on my way back from work which is a 2 lane mini highway (4 lanes total) and i was coming around a wide corner and it went off maybe 2 seconds before i could see him. It went from 0 bars to full signal so i was thinking it was just instant on.

Today i was driving to work and i was at the bottom of a hill and it started going off and as i got to the top a cop was flying over the hill only about 4-5 seconds between when it first beeped and when i saw him. Pretty sure that wasnt instant on.

and also i was about in the same situation with my 9500ix that i was with the 8500 and it didnt seem to pick the cop up as quick. but i was JUST passing a known false location so i still did a fairly decent job but the fact that the false reading is a rid aid K signal and these cops run KA i was expecting it to pick up quicker.

Now i recently bought a car charger splitter when i got the 9500ix would that have anything to do with anything?

I just feel like its not doing as well as the 8500, or maybe im just doing something wrong?

I have had both the 8500 and the 9500ix in the same location as shown below do you think this is a good spot to mount it?

Any help would be great thanks!

The mounting position looks OK and highway mode is good.

Have you ever seen a Low Voltage warning? If not, the power source is fine. Have you tested the power source with any other electronics to make sure it works? From the picture, it looks good.

Perfect spot for the 9500ix. As far as your encounters its you cannot pick up radar through a hill, so the alert should be short. Any large obstruction will hamper detection range on any RD.

The 9500ix is a beast at filtering falses, and I have had great range from mine, but also had some close calls. Its just the nature of radar, with obstructions, and where the radar gun is facing. You will also probably encounter a LEO shooting radar forward facing and not receive any alert till your almost next to them.

Keep noting your encounters and if its still a concern send it in for a check up.

The 9500ix (and many other detectors) will ramp up very quickly if you're driving up a hill.

Either that or it's instant on. My 9500ix is very strong with Ka band.

If you still notice similar situations that you're sure the ix is performing subpar to the 8500, you may want to send it in. Just wait for a couple more encounters to see.
