My 9500ix has started to power itself off. It says, "Powering Down, Please Unplug". After that it completely looses power.
Any ideas?

Its a built in safety feature, it has to do with voltage. Put your 9500ix in voltage display and see what the voltage is. May be something with your car or the unit.
What are you using to power it? Are you using a regular telephone cord? Certain ones cannot power a RD, so you'll get the low voltage alert. Try using the smart cord.

I am using a direct wire smartcord. I have been using this setup for years and this has just started to happen. Maybe the smartcord has gone bad. I'll program it to display voltage and then see what happens. I still have the plug-in smartcord, I'll see if that eliminates the problem. Thanks for all replies.

Ok cool, let us know. If the regular smart cord works, the you'll know it's not the detector.
I used to have this problem with my IX that was powered with an Invisicord, which was easily resolved once I moved my plugs around for a better connection. There's likely nothing wrong with the detector and I can almost guarantee your problem will stop once you try the cigarette lighter cord. Definitely inspect your wiring to make sure nothing is loose or pinched that may be causing an intermittent short. Good luck with the inspection!
I set the IX to display voltage. When the IX was turned on (direct wired smartcord), the voltage started at 11.8 and gradually decreased to 10 and powered down. Using the plug-in smartcord, the voltage stayed steady at 12.2.
Glad it's not the detector. I was getting ready to ebay it and put the money toward a STi R +.
Thanks again for everyone's input.
