Hey guys, haven't been on the forum for a while; I swing by every few months to read about the latest RDs on the market.
Anyway, I called Escort a few weeks ago and sent in my 8500 (purchased in sept, 01) for repairs. It had been giving me the service required message and I stopped using it about 1 year ago. Paid $79 for the repair. I have sent it back about other times over the years.
I received it back yesterday and upon powering it up, it went through self calibration tests and then gave the service required message.
I turned it off and plugged it into my 12 volt booster pack on the workbench and let it stay powered up for a while. After about 10 minutes, it started beeping Ka along with one led visual display. I turned it off and it was quiet for about 10 minutes and then went through the 3 step cal routine again and finally ending with service required message displayed.
Looks like I'll have to contact Escort and send it back again.
Just wondering if Escort has been declining over the past few years as far as repairs go on older units.
Anyone else have this same problem?
Does anyone from Escort monitor this forum?
