I remember when the X50 came out it was supposed to have 50 percent more range than the old 8500, not really so true. The S3, during my own experiences, doesn't have any more range than the S2, but they claim it does. I have hopes for the new-breed X50s, I guess we'll find out. One thing is nice, I absolutely hate any detector that isn't black anyway.Originally Posted by Jag42

I had 2 passport X50 and both of them were defective. I would consider them the lowest reliability of any RD on the market. I am intersted in the STI-magnum though.

Similar to the 9500ix would only be a 10 percent gain,if that. My IX is only marginally "arguable" better than the X50 m4 that I gave to my brother.

It looks sharp, but the only way I can think of that they could have improved it over the old one (well, besides going back to the S7 platform) is to put the waveguide lens on it like the 9500ix and the M3s have.
I can see more of these going back for servicing after they overheat in the sun too. Black looks great, but black + sun = trouble.

Ya i would give them a life span of 30 min in the brutal Texas heat. If i leave the V1 on the windshield just for 20 min out in the sun it will burn you and you could fry bacon on the top.
