Default escort 8500 x50 black? should i upgrade to 9500ix? which is better? thanks!!

i currently have the 8500 x50 an i love it but was looking into the 9500ix... i would like the auto learn feature for false alarms and would like the extra range it offers or so i heard? i also heard that the 9500ix doent really have any more range than the x50 which i was suprised to hear... i would love more range. i saw the 8500 x50 Black and noticed the claimed 40% more range and if this is true does this mean that its range is better than the 9500ix?? should i upgrade from my current x50 to a 9500ix? or x50 black?
    is it worth it?

    8500 x50 < 8500 x50 black < 9500ix < sti driver < sti magnum < redline

The 9500ix is still a bit better than the 8500x50

40 percent performance not 40 percent more range. For performance the X50B is better. For features the IX is better.

The 9500ix and X50Black should be the same range/performance-wise. There will be slight manufacturing variances so some 9500ix's may slightly outperform some X50Black's and vice versa.

Try a 9500ix. It adds a ton of features over the X50 and the lack of falses (after it learns them) will absolutely spoil you.

The 9500ix and 8500 X50 Black both offer great range...BUT, they use only a single horn. The Beltronics Driver and Magnum, as well as the Escort Redline utilize two horns. This gives significantly better sensitivity and range and so these dual horn models offer stupidly long range and amazing off axis (angled) detection. However, it is a give and take, as this increase in sensitivity and range from the dual horn design brings in the same issue as the dual horn Valentine One, which is a significant increase in false alerts. On the flip-side, the 9500ix uses GPS to not only filter out false alerts, but even lock them out using the GPS function. This means that the detector can tell the difference in legit radar versus a false alert at the exact same frequency, which is a unique feature to the GPS driven Escorts. I would say my 9500ix falses one time or less for every 40 my STi Driver does and 100 for my V1. Additionally, the GPS used by the 9500ix can address limitations of traditional detectors, such as red light cameras, VASCAR, and lone instant-on speed traps by using GPS. If you are ever in areas that tend to have a lot of false alerts or you cannot stand 'falses', the 9500ix is almost hands down your best pick. They have it in red now too, which is a nice bonus given how much easier it is on the eyes IMO.

There's some pretty impressive range on the 9500ix, more than enough to slow down. While not as amazing as the V1/Magnum/Redline, it's still more than enough for me and has kept me alert of any highway patrol officers running radar.

The scary thing is driving with the 9500ix, is it's too quiet after the auto learn/manual lock outs which take care of all your falses...you sometimes wonder if it's actually working.

My daily drive to work now is 0 alerts while my old V1 would false 10+ times, I've finally gotten comfortable with it and when it alerts KA band, I know damn sure there's a nice LEO somewhere waiting to ticket a speeder.
