I upgraded my 9500i to a 9500ix a couple of months ago. I did so primarily for the auto learn feature as Michigan (where I live) doesn't use red light cameras.
Illinois (specifically metro Chicago) does. This past weekend we went back to visit family and while we took the family SUV, I swapped out my wife's X50 for my 9500ix to test it out.
Boy was it annoying. Not a slam on the detector, but the fact that there are so many cameras that it was CONSTANTLY giving me the "Warning, red light camera ahead", followed shortly thereafter with, "you have reached your marked location".
Again, the detector was doing what it's supposed to do, but it quickly got old over the four days we were there.
On a slightly different note. I have an area that I marked manually as a speed trap in Michigan. The area is on a highway with a 70 mph PSL. In that location, the LEO typically set up a wolf pack using LASER. What I've found is that the warning that I get of the upcoming speed trap is not far enough. I'm sure that given the speed limit, I would get tagged by the LEO before the warning did me any good.
Is there any way to increase the distance for the warning?
