    Default Detector Tools

Why is it that my Beltronics Detector Tools will not recognize my 9500ix and my Escort Detector Tools will not recognize my STi-R Plus? This wouldn't be that big of an issue, because all I would have to do is have both versions on my computer. But, as it turns out, Detector Tools will not allow you to install the other version of Detector Tools, without uninstalling the previous version. I realize that Bel and Escort are different companies(kind of), but this needs to be rectified. It doesn't seem like much forethought went into this.

Probably because the firmwares are different... flashing an escort firmware onto a bel-branded device might theoretically work but it'd probably be bad mojo.

I'm still impatiently awaiting the Mac version. It's stupid that they don't have one.

This isn't a 'mapping the known universe' problem. This is: Let's read some structures from the USB port. Let's display them on screen. Let's pull some data from the internet and merge it all together. Write the data out to the USB port.

This should be something that they could outsource fairly easily with handing over the protocols.

I'd even pay for it from the app store if it were official so I knew it wasn't some guy's random hack.

Seems strange as several of us have both the Beltronics Detector Tools and the Escort Detector Tools on our computers without any problems. You are correct in that Beltronics Tools will not recognize an Escort product and vice versa, but you should be able to have both programs on your computer.

Do you have a link? I poked around but couldn't find it.

Chatted online with a representative. Here's the link:
    http://www.escortradar.com/productre...tion/index.php

The representative was confusing. I asked if there was the Detector Tools for the Mac and I got back incomplete sentences like:
"for the software not for the cameras"

After looking, it looks like it's for the firmware updates but not for the Defender DB updates.

I finally got both versions of the software installed on my computer. I removed the Bel version, then performed a registry cleanup. Then I was able to install both versions successfully. I installed the Escort version first....not sure if that matters.
