I'm surprised to hear this, especially the poor off-axis performance. The RedLine should detect these exceptionally well.
If you are refering to the RedLine with POP on then this most probably explains the performance that you are seeing. I recommend disabling POP detection (the default setting on our detectors). POP is not "instant-on", these terms are commonly confused. POP mode is a computer controlled ultra-fast burst of radar that is only available on a few models of MPH radar guns. POP mode is only to be used to preview vehicle speed. Normal, easily detected, radar is then used to issue the citation.
Enabling POP detection causes two negative consequences that far outweigh the very slim chance that you will ever detect a true POP mode signal:
1) POP slows down the detection of non-POP radar. It sounds counter-intuitive but it is true. With POP on, the detector has to constantly stop it's scanning of the radar bands to go to the POP frequency then resume the scan. This back and forth scanning can cause a significant delay in reporting normal radar. This may be what is causing your RedLine to seem to detect poorly compared to other detectors.
2) Enabling POP will cause frequent POP false alerts. Most Ka false alerts are caused by other nearby detectors leaking RF. Our detectors use advanced filtering techniques to reject alerts from non-police radar. With POP enabled, the detector disables this filtering because there simply isn't enough time to process the POP burst. Many that are new to detectors enable POP detection and think that these frequent alerts are true POP detections. They are not.
There is one other factor that could be causing your RedLine's inferior performance. If you are operating another detector. Detectors will interfere with each other causing missed or poor alerting. Due to our advanced filtering techniques ours are especially effected. Other detectors may perform well around a RedLine however due to the RedLine's electronically stealth design.
If these are not potential factors then please contact us to have your RedLine looked at. The number is in my signature below.
