How long..
How long have you bad your Escort Radar 8500 x50 Black before something happened to it.
Such as the Calibration, send for service, etc etc.
I've been looking around, and people are saying they've only had theirs for 6 months and it would show that error.

It's not just the X50, and not just Escort. Whether RD's live a hard life or don't like summer afternoons in the sun, for those of use that pay attention to the RD, it seems the poor devices do get sent in a bit more often than other consumer electronics.
That's part of the recommendation to buy from an authorized dealer in order to get the warranty coverage. Even after the warranty though, a few of my RD's have had a trip back home (and they came back feeling much better!).

Re: How long..
My friend that owns the x50 black told me his malfunctioned because he always kept it on the dash. And in Vegas, temperatures can reach up to 120 degrees during the summer and in the car around 150?
But every time I get out the car for more than 30 minutes, I put the radar in the glovebox or in the shade of my car.
Would that do good?

Re: How long..
The detector is guarenteed to work to 156 F. So don't be overcome with worry about a little heat or cold for that matter. Just use some common sense and all will be well.
