I've been a v1 user for 15 years now. In ohio (where x and laser are threats, and 35.5 ghz ka is about non existent), its served me well.
I'm on v3.873. This said, I've never been impressed with k band performance. Heck. I get better ka range than k band.
Especially against ohio state patrols mobile k band radar. If I'm closing in on one
on the highway, about .4 to .5 miles is all the distance I get from first alert to when we pass each other. Assuming he's doing the same speed as me, that's .8 to 1.0 miles distance between us when I got my first k alert. This is straight highways w/ some minor rises/falls.
Now, on x band, ill get 1.4 to 1.6 miles warning from first alert to when we pass each other. So you figure 3.0 miles detection range under similar conditions.
Ka band (rrare in ohio) I will get maybe .6 to .8 miles warning distance, if mobile, for a dection distance of btwn 1.2 to 1.6 miles.
Just last month in florida, I was detecting ka band from 5 miles away on i75 alligator alley - so its clear that terrain and radar type have a big effect.
For the moment, let's concentrate on ohio state patrol and mobile k band.
Have any of you had any experiencs w this kind of k band radar and redline detector?
