Default Why is the new Passport IQ's Black instead of Silver frame edging.

I currently own a Passport IQ which has silver edging around the frame of the detector but I see these new ones that are black. Is there any difference or is it just a new sleek design?

These black faced iQ's already have the latest operating software installed (which is freely available for you to update to via the Detector Tools application) and the latest maps. Performance and feature-wise the silver and black faced iQ's are the same.

Did you change it because the metal facing on the previous ones rusted? (like mine has)

How good is the detection on the IQ? What would you compare it to as far as other detectors?

Not at all. I still use a first run iQ daily. Yours is the only one I have ever heard of doing this. Sounds like it got wet.

We changed it to match the rest of our current Escort branded products which are all black.

Features and performance it's the same as a 9500ix. The iQ is a 9500ix with an integrated nav device. I love it for it's detector display that shows multiple signals along with their strengths and frequency (even locked out falses).

I also have an 9500ix, I would say it's equal in range.
