I received this mailing from Escort today. Does anyone know if the SmartRadar is an undetected unit like the Redline or STi?

It's a radar detector without a display.
If it was undetectable, it would say so in the specs. If it doesn't say, then assume it is detectable. IIRC it's based on the M4 antenna, which means it is detectable.
I did not get this e-mail yet, and there is no information on the Escort website.

OK, thanks.
I just got an Escort Upgrade promo email, and found this little surprise hidden inside! I find no other mention of it elsewhere.
(You can see the short discription in the promo, at escort's web site /promo/)
I wonder if we can get confirmation of what hardware lies inside.
Seems to me it would be worth selling my 9500ix and grabbing one of these, instead of paying to update my ix!
Especially considering one thing I never liked with the 9500 is its remote display is just a blinking light, and this SmartRadar has a nice full remote display. Both my ix and my V1 are mounted high and away and I love the V1's informative display that is mounted in front of my speedometer...as is the escort remote that is much more useless.
Though I usually drive with my iphone running waze, I suppose I would have to be running Escort's app constantly if I wanted GPS-based bogey muting with the SmartRadar.

Just got off the phone with Escort sales 'Randy' and he said its essentially an 8500/X50 inside. After an incredibly long-ass 4-yr debate, I went ahead and ordered the Redline. This is my very first RD!
Still, its a bit unnerving to spend this kind of money for a device that hangs on my dash and doesn't have an Apple logo.

It will be the hottest M4 to date due to some internal revisions and you won't need the EscortLive power adapter to communicate with your smartphone.
But I hear the remote display/controller comes with a short cord designed to be attached to the rear view mirror. Who wants a remote display within 12" of the detector up where all eyes can see.
Execution..........it's all in the execution.

Am I reading that correctly it is $450?
Those on our exclusive mailing list should have received a mailer with our new SmartRadar radar detector.
SmartRadar is basically a X50 Black with bluetooth integrated to use with our new Escort Live app. Instead of having an integrated display it comes with a separate display controller. You can also control SmartRadar using the Escort Live app. It uses the M4 antenna so it is detectable to RDDs. Performance is similar to a X50 Black and 9500ix. It is intended to be mounted behind your rear view mirror. SmartRadar includes the display controller with a rear view mirror mount, a plain direct wire, a direct wire with connectors for powered rear view mirror, a double suction cup windshield mount, and a double sided tape windshield mount.
When using SmartRadar with Escort Live then you will have TrueLock to lock out false alerts, Defender camera location alerts, and Live alerts from other Escort Live users.
Without Escort Live the SmartRadar is functionally an X50 with voice alerts.
The price for SmartRadar is $449.95.
Why still do detectable detectors ? they should all be undetectable.
