No USB connection

I have a 9500i and just received the USB Cable to connect to my computer. However, when I plug it in nothing happens. I've tried switching USB ports and holding the power button on the unit. What am I missing?

Ok I have downloaded detector tools, opened it, plugged in the detector and it says no detector connected.

You have to have your 9500i powered up? You need to have both the USB and the power cord connected.

No problem. Newer 9500ixs draw power from the USB cord and don't need a seperate power source, but 9500is still need a seperate power source.
