Should I exchange my x50

Hey, a few days ago, I bought an Escort 8500 x50 blue from ebay. It was from a powerseller with thousands of sales and great feedback so it seemed fine. The detector was even sealed too. My question is, should I ask him to send me a new one. I have been testing it out the past few days. I have seen about 20 speed traps where the detector went off one time. This was within 10 feet of the cop. Last night, on two seperate occasions, I had cops behind me. Didn't hear a peep from the radar. I live in NJ. Any ideas on what could be wrong? I know cops use instant on, but I mean near the speed traps, many cars were around.

it normaly says service if theres something wrong!!

email him as it does sound like theres something wrong with it.

I did e-mail him and he said that this is the very first problem a customer has had with this radar detector from him. I believe him because his feedback is so great. Think I should give it another few days.. He also said he would replace it..

The first X50 I had didn't work right. At first when I turned it on all seemed well and I drove to work and went by places that I knew would set the RD off as I had an 8500 before this one and it was quiet. When I got to work, I turned it off and back on and it said it was self-calibrating and then it said service required. I did a reset on it and the same thing happened so I send it back and got another and it works great...

I would not worry too much because in NJ they love Instant On like they do in Ohio

Oh another question, since NJ uses a lot of x-band, is the Escort x50 even a good choice. I remember reading on the Veil review site that the x50 struggled in NJ for x-band. Since, I bought it off ebay, I don't want to be stuck with it if this is the case.

GREAT point I completely forgot about that. If I was YOU I would buy the RX65 or a V1. These detectors handle X band like a PRO

i live in NJ (monmouth county) and my x50 works wonders. i know it lackes on X band but u still pick cops like 5x"s there radar range. the cops use X all round me and i have noooo problem picking them up. i love my x50 and it woks great for me.

i say return the detector and talk to Roy. he will give u a fair deal and knows much more on the subject.

I don't think I can just return the detector opened. The no refund policy only allows me a new one. I would like to purchase the Valentine 1.8 but can't afford not to get at least what I paid for the escort. I paid $289.95 SHIPPED for the blue x50 so that was a pretty good deal.
