    Default detecting laser? 8500

Ive had my 8500 for a few weeks now and im loving it. I did tons of homework and thought i had come to the conclusion laser was not used in my area or within a 200 mile radius. Until today... I got lasered. I saw him before my detector went off, but im not sure if he lasered me or the guy next to me? How far away can you detect it? Can you detect if it hits the car next to you?

99% of the time with an Escort detector,it is going off as the officer is getting your speed.

There is a slight chance you can pick up "laser scatter" which means part of the beam from the officer clocking a vehicle in front of you.

Laser is heavily used by the NYSP. Also if you are really thinking 200 mi radius your location includes CTSP which is probably 95% laser. Mass also heavily uses laser. The only area in your 200 mi radius that does not use laser is Penn.

Your mounting location will have a serious impact on laser detection. The lower the better because they aim at your front plates or headlights (most reflective areas on the front of your car). Even with good detection though laser is a highly focused beam and will typically only alert when you are targeted although detecting scatter is possible in some scenarios.

For laser protection, not just detection, I recommend a laser shifter/jammer like our ZR4 which will integrate it's controls and display on your 8500.
