    Default 8500 x50

I have had an 8500 X50 for 5-6 years now. All of a sudden everytime I accelerate hard, a laser false alarm happens. It does it in multiple vehicles now so its not my vehicle. I'm assuming it has to do with an electrical spike from alternator. I also noticed the lights on the cigarette plug flicker and shut off.

    Anyone know a solution?

Could the issue be in the cigarette plug?

Do you have a friend that has an escort radar detector that you could borrow his power cord? I think I would try that next. If that does not fix it, I would send it to escort for a tune up. They have specials every now and then on the tune ups.

Laser detectors are very sensitive to electrical noise. After they age they get more sensitive to noise and false alert more as the noise filters (caps) degrade through wear and tear. It sounds like your power connection isn't good though due to the cord's lights flickering. This certainly isn't normal. I would try it in another car to see if the cord or the cord's connection (or lighter plug) is the cause of this.

Call us if you would like to have your X50 diagnosed and serviced. The number is in my signature below.
