I've owned this particular 8500 X50 for coming up on three years. Two months ago I had to send it to Escort for the "Service Required" message. After getting it back it sometimes would reboot while driving. At first I thought it was randomly displaying "X Band off" (which I do have turned off) but then I realized the detector was actually rebooting on me and displaying the standard message of which bands are turned off (in my case only X band) upon startup. So I sent it back to Escort a second time yet it is still doing it with no discernible pattern (sometimes 5 minutes into driving, other times over an hour).
Before I call Escort a third time I want to 100% make sure it isn't me. I am using the same cable I've always used with the detector which is direct wired into the sunroof. I've tried regular OEM cigarette lighter cables and it still happens. Is it possible that some update Escort did to the detector is causing this notification to turn on, or perhaps they changed the current required to power the detector? Or most obvious, is there some setting I missed that will cause the detector to reboot or notify me of "X Band off"? Thanks
